A Week in the Life of...Katie

Katie (Santa Ana, CA)
Before I get started, these photos were not really all taken within one week but rather whenever I or someone else managed to snap a photo. There will be selfies and "Photo Booth" pics. Also there is some self-promotion. And this is a super rambly post. OH WELL. Continue reading if you dare.

Lately I am into clothes that are comfy but stylish. Things I can sweat in and not feel like I'm ruining. I just moved to Santa Ana and am walking/biking everywhere. It's been hot and I look like this a lot of the time:

At A's Burgers in San Clemente. Tee: UC Davis' Operation Restore Maximum Freedom fest 2012, shorts: BDG, water bottle: Sanrio/SIGG (thrifted), sunnies: 99 Cent Store.

Since I moved, I've been enjoying hanging around the house a lot pretending to be in a Saturday Looks Good to Me/Camera Obscura/Acid House Kings album cover.

In my room. Feat. Matthew Towles. Dress: Urban Outfitters, tee: Elephant 6 Recording Co., camera: Ricoh.

Most of the time I wear simple tops + dresses and layer pieces. I like things that are really girly and fun but not too complicated.

Easy Summer uniform. Vest & skirt: American Apparel, cami & necklace: thrifted.

At work. Top: Forever 21, Dress: American Apparel, Oxfords: Eva & Zoe.

Reading Dungeons & Dragons Dark Sun Campaign Setting. Top: H&M, Dress: American Apparel.

BONUS PHOTO! I'm the Elf Druid on the left, and that's my Jhakar (bear lizard thing), Spike, in front.

Dancing. Dress: H&M.

At the OC Fair. Top: Lacoste (thrifted), dress: American Apparel, headband: Forever 21.

Walking to the liquor store. Collar: antique store find, tee: Forever 21, skirt: American Apparel, plimsols: thrifted, bag: BAGGU.
I have not worn makeup this Summer other than filling in my eyebrows sometimes for shows and nights out and stuff like that. But that's it! And one thing that has happened is now I like my face more and no longer see things I can fix about it. My skin is brighter and fresher too. My #1 beauty secret is to take a little tiny dab of castor oil after washing my face, brush it through my brows and dab over my eyelids. Instant fresh face!

Felt bow barrette made by my roommate, Ivy, top: flea market find.

Here are some other projects I'm in the middle of.
Making up characters based on names and birth/death dates on tombstones at the cemetery across the street.

Bringing watercolors everywhere and doing quick little paintings of people/things I see.
New room! Before.

And now.

I've also been doing lots of band practice with my band, Moon Pearl. If you're in the Los Angeles area, come see us with Micachu and the Shapes at the Bootleg Theater on September 23! Here is a glamorous photo of me from when we played the Ace Hotel in Palm Springs.
Top: from estate sale, cami: American Apparel, cutoffs & necklace: thrifted.

Thanks to all you fashion people for reading. As a side note, I would like to mention that it is a personal goal of mine to pay attention to what kinds of businesses I am supporting, and all of the Forever 21/H&M/UO stuff you see here is from a few years back or received as a gift. Lately I've been doing a really good job of buying only second-hand or Made in USA/sweatshop free clothing. It's the way to be!

Lastly, if you've read this whole thing and you're still not bored, feel free to check out what I'm reading and what i'm listening to. Or that's not enough social media, here's a photo diary Tumblr and a (very important) Twitter. Phew!
