My week in (Instagram) photos

It's always a fun treat to have friends from back home (or elsewhere) come and visit you in New York. Although I am naturally a homebody and like to not do anything ever (ok, not exactly true but close!), having friends visit forces/gives me the excuse/opportunity to go out and explore and do things. Last week my good friend Mandi came to visit for about a week and we did a lot of eating. A lot.

3.1 Phillip Lim x Target

YOU GUYS. September is undoubtedly the best month of the year and since Phillip Lim felt it worthy to drop his Target collection on my birth month just proves my point.

According to a press release, the collection will become available on September 15 with more than 100 items for both men and ladies. Pieces include coats, bags, shoes, and dresses and prices will range from $19 to $299.99, with the most expensive items being leather jackets.

Pajama-Wear

I'm an advocate for wearing things that are comfortable. Any of my former roommates and current boyfriend can attest to the fact that within 20 seconds of stepping inside my apartment, I've already changed into lounge pants.
Don't get me wrong, I love looking cute and fancy and dressing up and whatnot. Obviously. I wouldn't have a blog if that wasn't the case! Sometimes though, especially when I'm feeling especially bloated or sweaty or uncomfortable, sweat pants and an old Wavves shirt just beckons me in like a warm embrace.

So now that "pajama-wear" is ~in~ you know I'm on board.
Outfit details: H&M top, Uniqlo "lounge pants," Matt's Army jacket (which I'm pretty sure was his grandpa's), Bass loafers, Marc by Marc Jacobs wishbone necklace, Juicy Couture sunglasses (Christmas gift from Matt's dad), Built by Wendy tote bag.

Happy Anniversary!

I'm usually not for public sentimental proclamations but I thought, since it's a special day, why not. Happy birthday to our relationship, Matt! Many more years of lounging and Netflixing, eating cheese and fancy beer, cooking and going out, listening to music and going to shows, picnics and bbqs to come!

Over at Within Color...

Rejected photo from the post
Over at Within Color today, I post an outfit photo (with a wrinkly dress because that is my style) and a reason why you shouldn't tell me I'm "beautiful." Check it out now!

Yes, those are foxes (And a Happy 4th Birthday!)

So if you know me, you know I have a penchant for dresses with animals on them. My mom was wary when she saw me holding this to try it on last year but she definitely changed her mind after we left the fitting room. I mean, who can resist? FOXES. SHIFT DRESS. YES.

Also can we talk about how exciting it is that I wore this outfit and not with a heavy jacket? Spring, is that really you?

outfit details: Vivienne Tam dress, Rodarte x Target jean jacket, heart tights from a HK boutique, Gap circle scarf, and Aldo brogues.

Also, April 8 marked the 4th anniversary of this blog! In true Vivian fashion, I completely forgot (I knew it was April-ish...) but since I'm still close enough to celebrate it, I want to take this moment--in one of my ever rare outfit posts--to thank all of you for reading, commenting, sharing, and enjoying the randomness, amateurish, ramshackle thing that is this blog. Held together by very basic HTML, crude Photoshop, and awkward poses, I started this blog as a way to share my outfit photos (some embarrassing now to look at, some pretty good ones) and it has now evolved into that plus recipes and little snapshots of my life. I am both constantly critical of my blog ("ugh, this doesn't even look professional!") and happy to have an outlet to just talktalktalk. And if ever your friends lament about not having enough style/food blogs written by underpaid, over-educated Asian females to read, why don't you direct them here? I'll love all of you (even if you don't comment).
